Indication of an Impending HVAC Repair

Heating & cooling is handled by Crest Air

Crest Contracting LLC is a general contractor. For heating, cooling and air conditioning — repairs, replacements, new systems and maintenance — our sister company Crest Air LLC is the licensed HVAC contractor and does that work.

Building something that needs mechanical work as part of it? We coordinate that directly with Crest Air on the job — you still deal with one contractor.

Occasionally an air conditioner will break down with no warning. Typically, however, your Green Valley, AZ AC unit will send you signals that it’s having a problem. Here are four signs that will tell you an HVAC repair might be looming in your future.

AC Blowing Warm Air

An air conditioner blowing warm air frequently signals a problem with low refrigerant. If you’ve neglected maintenance, a dirty coil due to a clogged filter could be the culprit. Another possible cause of your AC blowing warm air is if you accidentally flipped your thermostat setting to heat mode rather than cooling mode.

High Humidity Levels

Condensation on your windows or a sticky, muggy feeling are two indicators that your air conditioner isn’t doing its job of dehumidifying your home. The AC repair might be simple (replacing your thermostat) or complicated (your system might be worn out and no longer capable of efficient dehumidification). Condensation could also be an alert for a broken or blocked condensation drainpipe.

Unusual Sounds

If you begin to hear sounds other than the comforting background hum of your AC running, that’s a clear alert that something is out of kilter. A high-pitched scream or whistle could indicate a refrigerant leak, blocked ducts, or a clogged filter. Banging and clanking could mean broken fan blades or motor, a detached part, or an unbalanced motor.

Odd Smells

Your AC unit should never smell. If it does, it’s time to call a service technician. A musty smell is a strong sign of bacterial lurking within your system. A burning smell suggests frayed or loose wiring or a problem with your fan belt.

If any of these issues have cropped up in your Green Valley home, give us a call today. Whether you need our AC repair services or our maintenance services, we can help restore cooling comfort to your indoor environment.
